A rainbow gradient

I know a lot of people have questions on how to put text on a path so here I will tell you how. I think you’ll find it rather easy once you know how to do it.

Alright lets get started.

Open the sunflower in PSP. Duplicate it (shift D) and close the original. Never work off the original as you may want to use it again.

Go to image canvas size and change the size to 400x400. Center horizontally and vertically both checked. OK.

Now make your foreground color any color. Doesn’t matter cuz it wont show. Make your background color null. Choose your preset shapes tool, set to ellipse, antialias and vector checked, line width 1. Now holding down your shift key to make it a perfect circle draw a circle around your sunflower. It doesn’t matter if its right where you want it, it can be moved with your mover tool after you draw it. Also if its not exactly the right size use the nodes to fix it.

Make your foreground null and your background a gradient of your choice. I used a rainbow. Angle 45 repeats 0 linier. Now choose your text tool and click right on the circle you drew. Make sure you click exactly on the line of the circle. Type out your text. The size depends on the text and font you use…You may have to play around with it a bit to make it look right. I used Kristen ITC size 36 antialias and floating checked. OK Now on your layer palette, right click the floating selection and choose promote to layer. Rename it text. On the layer palette again right click the vector circle layer and delete it.

Now making sure you’re on your text layer, go to Effects/ 3D/ Inner bevel and use the following settings.

Inner Bevel

Then go to Effects/3D/Drop shadow and use the following settings.

Drop Shadow

Add the same drop shadow to your sunflower.

On your layer palette, right click your text layer and duplicate it 3 times for a total of 4 text layers. Click once on the one right above the original text layer…the first copy of text and go to Image/rotate, check right and 90. OK Effects/ sharpen/ sharpen.

Click on the next text layer up. Go to image rotate and change the 90 to 180. Effects/ sharpen/ sharpen.

Click on the top text layer and go to image rotate and change the 180 to 270.

Now right click your sunflower layer and duplicate it 3 times for a total of 4 sunflower layers.

By clicking on the little glasses on the layer palette hide the top 3 text layers and the top 3 sunflower layers. Make sure the sunflower is selected go to Layers/ merge/ merge visible, then hide this layer.

Unhide the next text layer and sunflower layer up making sure the sunflower layer is selected merge visible again and hide it.

Continue this with the other 2 layers of each. Now you should have 4 layers on your palette each with the sunflower and text. Unhide all layers and save as a PSP image.

Open animation shop and open your image. Go to edit/select all. Go to animation/frame properties and change the 10 to 35. Crop an save. You’re done! Hit view/ animation and watch it go.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it was easy to follow. :D
