Ok lets get started.

Remember to save often! We‘ve all had PSP shut down on us for no good reason and it isn‘t funny if you haven‘t saved your work.

Open the blueberry mouse layers and blueberry in psp. Minimize the blueberry for now and click on the mouse layers to make it active. Click the little glasses on the bottommouseleftclosed and bottommouserightclosed layers to hide them. Go to Layers/New Raster Layer to add a new layer. Layers/ Arrange/Send to bottom. Make your foreground null and your background color #4F608E. Click your text tool then click on your canvas. Type out your text. I used oogieboogie font size 72. Antialias and vector checked. Move your text between the top and bottom mice and use the nodes to stretch your text till your satisfied with how it looks.

On your layer palette, right click the vector layer and click convert to raster layer. Hide the mouse layers, make sure your text layer is the active layer and go to Selections/ Select all, then Selections/Float. Add a new raster layer then go to Effects/3D/Cuttout and use the following settings..

Cut Out

Add a new raster layer and repeat cut out only change the horizontal and vertical to -3. Making sure only your text layers are open go to Layers/Merge/Merge visible. Then Add the following drop shadow, and rename this layer text.

Drop Shadow

Now lets put this all together.

For each frame your going to want to hide all the layers except those I tell you to copy and drag down. always keep the originals hidden.

For the first frame copy your text layer and drag it to the bottom. Then duplicate the top mouse layer and drag it right above the copy of text. Duplicate the bottommouseopen layer and drag that down above the top mouse layer. Hide all of the original layers. Add the same drop shadow you used for the text layer to each of the mouse layers and go to layer/merge/merge visible. Rename this layer frame 1 and hide it.

Ok frame 2. Duplicate and drag down above frame 1, the text layer, topmouse layer, and bottommouseopen layer. Remember to hide the original layers. Click on the copy of topmouse layer to make it active. Using the lasso tool ( set on freehand, feather 0, antialias checked) lasso the top mouse’s arm then click in the middle of the selection to tighten the ants.

Selection View

Click on the deformation tool and rotate the arm a little bit to the left (he’s gonna drop that blueberry to the mouse on the left) then using the center node move it slightly over so its reattached to the arm. Click apply and deselect. Now add the drop shadow to both the mouse layers and merge visible. Rename frame 2 and hide that layer.

For frame 3, duplicate and drag down above frame 2, the text, top mouse, and bottommouseopen layers. Hide the originals. Click on the top mouse layer and repeat what you did for layer 2. Now we have to get rid of that blueberry he’s holding so zoom in kinda close and use your eraser tool set at size 1 and carefully erase it. Use your undo if you make a mistake. Now open your blueberry and edit/copy, edit/paste as new layer on your mouse canvas. Rename this layer blueberry. Move the blueberry about 1/3 of the way down to the bottom mouse on the left. Add your drop shadow to the blueberry and mouse layers. Merge visible and rename frame 3. Hide that layer.

Frame 4, duplicate and drag down above frame 3, text, top mouse, and bottommouseopen layers. For the top mouse’s arm repeat what you did for frame 3. You might want to open frame 3 just to make sure you get the arm in the right place then rehide it. Once you have tho top mouse’s arm right copy and paste as new layer that blueberry again and move it farther down toward the hungry mouse on the left. About 2/3s of the way down. Add your drop shadow to the blueberry and the mouse layers, merge visible and rename frame 4. Hide this layer.

Frame 5, duplicate and drag down above frame 4, text, topmouse, bottommouseleftclosed layers. Hide the originals. Highlight the topmouse layer and erase that blueberry again. Now lasso the arm and click inside the selection to tighten the ants. Use your deformation tool to rotate the arm a little to the right…like he’s reaching for another berry. Click apply then deselect. Next use your clone brush to fill in the small blank area it leaves when you move that arm. Right click on his fur then paint by left click where you want to fill it in. Don’t add the blueberry to this layer. It’s in his mouth. Add drop shadows to the mouse layers then merge visible and rename it frame 5. Hide this layer.

Frame 6, duplicate and drag down above frame 5, text, topmouse, bottommouseleftclosed layers. Hide the originals. Highlight the bottom mouse layer and using your lasso tool lasso his cheek.

cheek view

Go to effects/geometric effects/punch set at 23. OK Deselect. Add the drop shadows to the mouse layers. Merge visible and rename it frame 6. Hide this layer. Are you remembering to save??

Frame 7, duplicate and drag down above frame 6, text, topmouse, and bottommouseleftclosed layers. Hide the originals. Highlight the top mouse layer and erase that blueberry again. Copy and paste as new layer your blueberry and move it to about a third of the way down to the right mouse’s mouth. Don’t punch the mouth on the left mouse this time. Add the drop shadow to the blueberry and mouse layers. Merge visible and rename frame 7. Hide this layer.

Frame 8, duplicate and drag down above frame 7, text, topmouse, and bottom mouse left closed layers. Hide the originals. Erase the blueberry from the top mouse’s hand again. Copy and paste as new layer the blueberry and move it to about 2 thirds of the way to the right mouse’s mouth. Then go to the bottom mouse layer and lasso the left mouse’s cheek and punch it. Same settings as before. Deselect. Add drop shadows to blueberry and mouse layers. Merge visible then rename frame 8. Hide this layer.

Frame 9, duplicate and drag down above frame 8, text, topmouse, and bottommouserightclosed layers. Hide the originals. Erase the blueberry on the top mouse layer. Add the drop shadows to the mouse layers. Merge visible and rename frame 9. Hide this layer.

Frame 10, duplicate and drag down above frame 9, text, topmouse, and bottommouserightclosed layers. Hide the originals. On the top mouse layer, erase the blueberry. Then lasso his arm and with the deformation tool rotate it a bit to the right like hes reaching for another berry. Apply and deselect. Use the clone tool to fill in any space. On the bottom mouse layer, lasso the right mouse’s cheek and punch it using the same settings as before. Add the drop shadow to the mouse layers. Merge visible and rename frame 10. Hide this layer.

Frame 11, last frame!! Woohooooooo!!. Delete the bottommouseleftclosed layer and ope the text, top mouse, bottommouserightclosed layers. Make sure the text is on the bottom of these three layers. Add the drop shadows to the mouse layers. Merge visible and rename it frame 11.

Save it and open it in animation shop. Go to edit /select all. Then go to animation/frame properties and change the 10 to 25. That’s it…you’re done! Hit view/animation and watch the mice eat berries.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it wasn’t too difficult. Let me know what you think and if I need to change anything. Thanks!
